There is a plethora of clubs and organizations in Pittsburgh that you can join and volunteer with in order to build your personal and professional skills or meet new people.

  • American Red Cross — Helps people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies. Volunteers represent 98% of the Red Cross's total work force. Call for training. (412-263-3100)
  • American Cancer Society — Volunteers for clerical work, patient care, fund-raising, data entry, community education programs, and market research. (888-227-5445)

  • Animal Friends — Volunteers needed in all areas at this animal shelter. (412-847-7038)
  • Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Greater Pgh — Commit time on a regular basis to mentor children. Applicants are screened thoroughly and are provided with consistent support. (412-621-6100)
  • Children's Museum of Pittsburgh - We offer a variety of ways in which you can volunteer your time; from assisting in our exhibit spaces to helping with special events to community outreach. (412-322-5058)
  • Center for Creative Play — Volunteers needed to play with children. (412-371-1668)
  • Goodwill Industries — Helps people with employment barriers find meaningful work. Volunteer in traditional or creative ways. (412-481-9005)
  • Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank — Volunteers needed to help sort, inspect & box food donations. (412-412-460-3663)
  • Greater Pittsburgh League of Women Voters — A nonpartisan political organization that encourages citizens to understand the issues & vote. (412-261-4284)
  • Greater Pittsburgh Literacy Council— They are seeking tutors for people who need basic literary skills. (412-661-7323)
  • Habitat for Humanity — Volunteers needed to build decent, affordable housing for families in need. (412-466-6710)

  • Pittsburgh Action Against Rape — Women aged 18+ needed to work with this rape counseling center. 40 hours of training (held in September) necessary before volunteer work begins. (412-431-5665)
  • Pittsburgh AIDS Task Force — Recruiting volunteers as regular and phone buddies to provide support. (412-242-2500)
  • Pittsburgh Cares — Offers various volunteer opportunities for area non-profits, health organizations, community and social groups and more. (412-471-2114)
  • Pittsburgh Council for International Visitors — Introduces international visitors to Pittsburgh and needs many volunteers in order to give each visitor the opportunity to explore the characteristics of our city as widely and deeply as his/her time and interests permit. (412-392-4513)
  • Salvation Army — From ringing the bell at kettles during the Christmas season to working with young people. (412-394-4800)
  • Society of St. Vincent de Paul / Food Pantry — Seeking volunteers to help at the food pantry. Help is needed in unloading deliveries, sorting food, & assisting in food distribution. (412-321-1071)
