Central Blood Bank provides blood products and transfusion-related services to more than 40 hospitals in the Pittsburgh region, as well as select communities in northern West Virginia and eastern Ohio. Central Blood Bank has a challenging mission. We accomplish it through the dedication and loyalty of our staff, support of the region's many corporations and organizations, and most importantly, the generosity of our volunteer blood donors. The demand for blood in our region continues to grow and we are in need of eligible donors.
Every volunteer blood donor can save up to 12 lives in a year by donating blood quarterly. Those who begin donating blood at age 17 and donate every 56 days for the next 60 years can brighten more than 1,000 area lives! Central Blood Bank has various conveniently-located community donor centers throughout western Pennsylvania and northern West Virginia. Visit us online to find your nearest donor center. There are the basic qualifications to donate blood. Please contact our Medical Help Desk at 1-866-DONORS-1 ext. 7160 or 7035 with specific questions regarding eligibility or the donation process.
